Projects - iCORDS

My role at iCORDS

iCORDS had a shell for a platform. I had to come in with a plan to make it user friendly and easier to navigate. At the same time, give it a clean, spacial feel and look.

I led the design of the platform for geoscientist that will be used globally across modern browsers. I also doubled as an art director and branded everything from the start of this adventure. Since my time with iCORDS, I have designed the launch of version 1.0, 1.1, and started the design of version 2.

I joined a team of developers with the fantastic variation of knowledge and skills which we shared amongst each other. We shared concepts, behaviors, and motivations to reach solutions.

Scheduling meetings with the geologists, the dev team, and platform users to gather as much information on the workings of the geoscience world.

From the shared visions gathered at our daily scrum meetings amongst our team, I created sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes This set forth our plan for our next steps.

Real QA

Before our platform was available to public paying subscribers, we had the benefit of our sponsors testing as we went along, giving us insights, likes, dislikes, everything a geologists could come up with we could'nt ourselves. We absorbed it all and made their suggestions one step or two better.

After multitudes of wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and extensive QA - I would make the final decision on the UI and flow of the features of the project for the latest particular versions to be launched.

Design and Launch

Days of preparation come alive with the launch. The support team ready to answer questions if needed. We are already working on the next version update.

This is logo I created for iCORDS, which stands for: Intergrated Continent-Ocean Research Data System

The sphere represents land-oceanic oil and shale research. The font color represents oil/shale. The geologists loved it!

This is iCORDS landing page for the public to view and for subscribers to sign into the platform. I created this using Wordpress so basic content can be updated with ease by marketing department.

Subsribers will sign in from here and enter the platform for their research.

Wireframes Version 1.1 Dashboard

This simple wireframe was a simplified take on the original beta version. The idea was to get most information the geologist would need on the dashboard itself.

This version will only work on desktops and most tablets. Smart phones are not capable of doing the research needed at this point.

Version 1.1 Dashboard

From wireframes to mock-ups to production. Subscribers are working with this version at this moment. We gather information from them everyday through support and surveys.

This goes straight to our design/dev team to update and solve any problems that occur.

Wireframes Version 1.2 Dashboard

Learning from surveys and the geoscience team, fitting everything onto one desktop screen wasn't enough. Not everyone on the field has two monitors.

So the idea of horizontal scrolling dashboard was born. With tabs and collapsible frames, this gives the researcher unlimited real estate to work on.

Wireframes Version 2.0 Dashboard

With version 1 out and keeping up with maintenance and updates. We are already working on the next best thing.

I can't go into much as far as details, but i'm guessing you can spot the trend we are heading towards.

Version 2 Dashboard Mock-ups

Excited to be working on the next version.

Again, can't go into details, but it will be a geologist dream come true. A time saver, plus finding data from one platform rather than multiple.

This quickly shows the time-saving, abundant resources, and end results when using this platform.

We like pictures.

Creating all our informative graphics in Illustrator, we can resize them to whatever we'd like.
